About Me

I’m Amanda Mannas, aka Mandobug, the pattern designer behind Mandobug Crafts. Why Mandobug? It’s a nickname given to me by my younger brothers. Nowadays they mostly refer to me as Mando and only throw the bug on when they are feeling particularly silly. Feel free to do the same 🙂

Why design patterns?

Creative self-expression is my passion. I have an inherent need to express my creativity and design unique and unusual things. I couldn’t live without it! Slowly over the years as a maker, I found myself no longer getting excited by making the patterns that were available, so I set out to create my own. I wanted to learn even more skills and see if I could push the boundaries of what could be done with these crafts. I love new, strange, and unusual constructions and shapes. I really enjoy the more alternative and gothic aesthetics and frequently find myself getting inspired by Halloween.

My mission

To inspire crocheters and knitters to get creative, explore self-expression, and build confidence in their skills through the creation of patterns that make their hearts sing.
